Alphabet Odia

Odia Script

The Odia script is an abugida of the Brahmic family used for Odia, the official language of Odisha, India. Inscriptions date to the 10th century CE. The script's distinctive rounded letters result from writing on palm leaves — straight lines would split them. Odia is recognized as one of India's classical languages.
